Searching For Summer Sun

With summer upon us, I’m dreaming about sunnier climes and palm trees. Anyone else?


I’m a firm believer that everything’s better in swimwear. And whilst I may have potentially not uttered that sentence out loud until I visited Australia earlier this year (the aussie laid back lifestyle is the best, just sayin’) it’s something I think about often. And if you’re thinking about swimwear, you’re probably thinking about holidays as the two go hand in hand.

I’ve been thinking for a while that I want to explore more of Europe and with all these countries being on my doorstep, there’s no excuse. Having visited Madrid earlier this year and then Turkey for the first time, I’m slowly opening my eyes to different cultures. I want to experience true Italian food in Florence, to witness the sunrise in Stockholm, shop in Copenhagen, sip crisp white wine in the French Riviera, soak up the sun island hopping across Croatia, see the white washed walls of Santorini and Mykonos, explore Iceland (okay not Europe but who’s counting) there’s so many more too, but you get the idea.

A couple of recommendations for you if you’re looking to book somewhere: Barcelona is a great blend of city and sea, Berlin is full of history and perfect for a long weekend city break, Marmaris and Fethiye in Turkey are really pretty places and the blue lagoon area offers sports too, whether you want to go paddleboarding, kayaking or just soak up the sunshine. Then of course there’s Australia, but you want to be looking at Dec-Feb for the full summer experience there.

So whether you’re headed away somewhere sunny, or keeping your fingers crossed for some decent British weather, I wanted to share a few photos of an outfit from PrettyLittleThing. And yes, I actually went in the North Sea for a little paddle to shoot these. Slight disclaimer though, it was actually quite a warm day – however the sea, nope, not so warm.

I think black denim shorts are pretty versatile, good for popping around sightseeing on holiday, or as an extra cover up for the beach. This swimsuit is a bit, bummy, I guess… but that seems to be the style that’s around lately and hey why not! The palm print is everywhere this season too, there’s a bikini version of this swimsuit and this white/green bikini. Pink shades I wanted to indulge in and try to be as cool as the Haim sisters, not too sure that worked so well.. let me know!
