Hello Freckles Sunday Summary Brighton Sunset

Hope you’ve had a lovely week in the sun, I know I have!

Last Sunday I went to Brighton for a little work trip. I’d never been to Brighton before and I’ve still only travelled alone once before, so the whole concept of being alone in a new place is still a bit odd. There’s something strangely nice about it too, I could go sit on the beach for as long as I wanted, I didn’t have to wait for anyone else to get ready and if I wanted ice cream, there was no one to tell me I couldn’t.

Brighton was lovely and when I was sitting on one of the deckchairs on the pier (which are free, unlike the ones on the beach!) I could’ve almost believed I was on holiday abroad. The weather was lovely and getting up at 6am to go for a run along the seafront was a personal highlight, although I think I’ve slightly hurt my foot which isn’t good when I’m supposed to be running 10k next weekend!

Last night I took my sister to see Ben Howard as part of her birthday present, along with the treat of a PB&J Fat Hippo burger. We saw him a couple of years ago when he played the O2 Academy in Newcastle so it was nice to see him play to a bigger audience at the arena. I had my doubts about the second album and I still think Every Kingdom is better, but I really enjoyed it live. Conrad in particular stood out with the lights, I can only describe it like watching a sunrise and a sunset all in the space of 4 minutes. It was slightly disappointing that Only Love wasn’t on the set list and we didn’t hear Old Pine either, presumably due to the band coming on a few minutes late.

Other news from this week; I tackled a new challenge at work this week, drove through Newcastle for the first time with no problems (feeling very proud) and got covered in soap taking part in the WearSlide for St Oswald’s Hospice. There’ll be more on that in Tuesday’s post though.
