There’s a sense of spring in the air and it’s time to start thinking ahead to the wedding season! It’s a particularly exciting one for me this spring/summer as I’ve got one of my girls getting married next month then my sister gets married in June. Get the tissues ready, I can feel the happy tears brewing. Don’t you just love a wedding though? It’s an honour to be invited and to celebrate the joy of love between two people, an opportunity to wear a lovely outfit and to have a good dance too. It can be stressful too though (nevermind the actual planning of a wedding, I’ve seen how much goes into that with my sister planning hers) even as a guest, so here’s my top tips to keep it stress free and it’s easier than you think!

1. It’s all about the base (skincare base…)
For spring and summer weddings you want to be bright, glowy, makeup that’s barely there but accentuates your features. This starts with skincare and a good base. Korean skincare is really having a moment and Beauty of Joseon from Very is a great place to start. I’d recommend the Ginseng Essence Water Toner, Green Tea calming serum and the matte sun stick which is SPF 50+.

2. Make sure you’re comfortable in your dress / outfit
I say outfit as you might choose to wear a jumpsuit or coord, that’s totally fine. For me, I love a reason to get a dress on but make sure it’s the right fit and you feel comfortable and confident in it. You don’t want to spend the day readjusting it or worrying about any wardrobe malfunctions. This cowl detail dress from Very is a great option and really lightweight, so perfect if it’s a warmer day. Take a look at their range of occasionwear for some inspo!

3. Keep the hairstyling a breeze with GHD rise hot brush
I’m typically a straighteners kinda gal but the GHD hot brush is so easy to use and creates effortless volume. Really good for styling bangs/fringe too if like me, you’re trying to embrace that ‘barely done’ but put together kinda look. Spritz with lots of hairspray and you’re ready to go.
4. Think about your shoes!
Church ceremony, outdoors on grass or attending the wedding reception, whatever your invite and the location make sure you’ve got the right shoes on. No one wants stilettos digging into grass and being stained, go for a block heel instead – should’ve listened to my own tip here but my block heels are yellow, so probably not the vibe for this purple satin dress!
5. Pop some sunglasses in your bag
Okay hear me out on this one, but sunglasses can be a great accessory and look super chic, as well as being a saviour if you’re a hayfever girlie like me (hello summer weddings) also very handy if you get a tad emotional, but l draw the line at suggesting you wear them indoors. Unless, however they’re the white heart shaped frames with the couple’s names emblazoned across the lenses! IYKYK.
