  • Where to visit during Sunderland Restaurant Week

Sunderland Restaurant Week is back! From Saturday 12 to Sunday 20 March you can enjoy a meal at restaurants across the city for £10/£15pp. Fancy something different for lunch, or a cake and coffee date? You’re in luck as there are cafes across the city with a £5 deal available during the nine day event.

In safari supper style, I was treated to a preview of some restaurants taking part in Sunderland Restaurant Week.

We started our evening at Ttonic with some drinks and snacks. I visited in my student days and has definitely had a makeover since then. Their restaurant week offer is great, £5 for a small pizza and 330ml bottle, £10 for a large pizza and two 330ml bottles or £15 for a large pizza, loaded fries and a bottle of prosecco. As for which pizza to go for, I’d get the spicy meat feast or ‘the controversial one’ as I do believe pineapple makes a great pizza topping! A few of the other guests enjoyed the duck pizza.

Hello Freckles Sunderland Restaurant Week Tequila Tequila tacos

Tequila Tequila serve up some tasty Mexican food and the restaurant has a nice vibe. I tried their soft shell tiger prawn tacos which you can get for £10 alongside a starter in their deal. Or for £15 you can have a starter, main, soft drink and selected dessert.

Hello Freckles Sunderland Restaurant Week Lucky Cat Boba Bubble Tea

I tried my first bubble tea at Lucky Cat Boba. It’s a great spot for a refreshing bubble tea (peach and tropical bubbles for me) or satisfy your sweet tooth with a waffle. Kinder is one of their best sellers and I can see why! Topped with lashings of sauce, ice cream, kinder chocolate and a Kinder Hippo. Get two bubble waffles and two large bubble teas for £15.

    Where else is taking part?

Stack Seaburn is getting involved with Sunderland Restaurant Week. If you find yourself over by the coast, make sure you’ve downloaded a voucher ahead of time to make the most of the deals. Maybe I should make my first visit to Stack Seaburn next week?

Chilli Mangoes is a restaurant I’d really like to visit and I’ve heard some really good things about the food. Their £15 offer is really generous giving you a starter, main, rice, naan or chips, poppadoms and a soft drink/pint. Vicky from Mackem Life visited recently and shared a review which has definitely confirmed I need to go!

Six Pierpoint is a wine bar and restaurant I’ve often admired as I’ve walked along the coast. Wine fans rejoice! You can get a cheese or charcuterie board and a glass or wine or prosecco for £15 – their boards do look delicious so if I wasn’t marathon training I could be persuaded! Maybe I’ll pop by for the £5 tea/coffee and cake and take shelter from the blustery North East coast.

    A few others to mention:

Looking for a traditional Italian meal? Get along to Angelo’s in Sunniside. For £15 you can have 2 courses from the special menu.

808 Bar and Kitchen located above Coffeehaus (one of my favourite spots in Sunderland for a cappuccino) are taking part in Restaurant Week again. I’ve been there a few times and would recommend their tapas. I mentioned them in this previous safari supper post.

Burger fans, get along to 2 Church Lane. I’ve been a few times and mentioned them in this safari supper post.

Asiana offer some great asian fusion cuisine and I mentioned them in this previous safari supper post.

Are you booked up for Restaurant Week? If not, hopefully I’ve given you some ideas and convinced you to put down the oven gloves for a few days and treat yourself to a nice meal!
