So I’ll be the first to admit it’s not truly Autumn just yet.. but with a couple weeks until the equinox, there’s nothing wrong with being prepared for the upcoming season.
Very.co.uk is known for its combination of big name brands and on-trend fashion, so you may be aware that just recently, Topshop launched on the site. Topshop is a high street favourite when it comes to trend-led pieces so it’s great to see so much of the new collection available at Very. I’ve spent some time browsing the new season to find some key pieces you need to update your wardrobe.
Here’s the top 5 trends I think you should consider for the new season:
Florals
Yes, florals tend to be a year round trend but this Autumn/Winter think of layering a cosy knit over your floral midi dress you’ve been wearing all summer. Any midi skirts/dresses are great to take you through the seasons.
My faves: this skirt, this dress and if you’re really anti-floral try this polka dot dress!
Utility
This trend is still very much carrying through from Spring/Summer which is great news to me – means I can continue to wear my boiler suits! But this season think about opting for camel, khaki and rust tones rather than white/navy/black. My favourite part of Autumn is seeing all the leaves change colour, so take this colour palette as inspiration and try to pick out one key piece that can reflect those hues.
My faves: this short khaki boiler suit, this shacket
(Faux) Leather and PU
There’s something about swapping your jeans for some faux leather trousers that immediately elevates an outfit. Make sure they fit you well and you’re comfortable though, there’s nothing worse than some overly tight faux leather trousers…unless you want to be replicating that scene from Friends where you’re Ross.. No, didn’t think so.
My faves: these trousers, this biker jacket
Tailoring
It can be easy to hide in your go-to outfits for Autumn/Winter but try out some bolder trousers to perk up your day to day. Whether it’s to the office with some heels or dressed down with some trainers.
My faves: these olive palazzo pants, this high waisted pair
Grunge
Think of a floral midi with a leather jacket, or big chunky boots with a pretty ditsy floral printed dress. Mismatch those textures and really rock that ‘I threw this on and I look effortlessly cool’ style. Finish off the look with a slick of eyeliner or a bold lip, as Topshop Beauty is available on Very too!
My faves: This aviator jacket, this shacket
