  • Ghetto Golf – Putting crazy golf on the map in Newcastle

Ghetto Golf is the latest destination to open in Newcastle’s Hoults Yard. Whether it’s a date, a fun night with friends or to celebrate a birthday, here’s why you need to visit!

It’s different to any crazy golf you’ve experienced before… seriously!

Unless you’ve visited Ghetto Golf in Liverpool or Birmingham, then this new crazy golf venue in Newcastle will be a whole new experience for you. From a giant swan pedalo to toilets to some crazy UV, it’s an adults only venue and somewhere you will want to add to your list for your next night out, or something fun to do with your mates. There are are some erm, interesting… themes to some of the holes. If you’re perhaps someone easily offended, or a bit prudish, it might not be for you. That aside, if you’re up for a laugh and not taking things too seriously – get booked up!

The vibe and the music… there’s live DJs!

Ghetto Golf isn’t just a warehouse with a few patches of worn out fake grass, it’s a real experience. From the moment you step into the warehouse and see all the grafitti – done by local artists, which is a really nice touch, the UV paint and wild and wonderful themes of some of the holes, you will also notice the music. Playing some of the hits from the likes of Drake, Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar, even if you don’t want to play golf (excuse me, what?!) you can enjoy the atmosphere in the bar area.

There’s some great drinks (and food)

With cocktails such as Lethal Drizzle (Beefeater gin, raspberry, blackberry, elderflower, apple and topped with tonic and a wedge of lemon) and Fire In Da Booth (Goslings Dark Seal Rum, banana, passionfruit, pineapple and lime) wine, beer and soft drinks too, there’s something for everyone. There’s also bars around the venue and you can take your drinks whilst you’re golfing too.

Food is served from Apocalypse Cow and you’ll want to take your time browsing the menu. There’s everything from burgers to brisket bites, loaded fries and halloumi. Oh and they have some cheesecakes if you have any room for dessert! We did think the food order took a little while, but we did go on opening night so I imagine service might speed up a little once they’re fully in the swing of it (sorry, another pun…)

    It’s a really fun night!

Even if you’re someone who doesn’t think they’re very skilled at crazy golf, you’ll enjoy it. With a max of 6 shots per person per hole, you’ll find you’re thinking more about the themes on each of the 18 holes, rather than who is winning. Unless you’re competitive and then it might be a mix of both! Either way, it’s a really fun date night, or something different with your friends, as part of a birthday celebration, or even for a stag/hen do. I maybe wouldn’t advise you go with parents though… unless you want to play that Amsterdam themed hole with a straight face?!

Ghetto Golf Newcastle is open now in Hoults Yard, Newcastle. Prices are really reasonable too – £10 per person with a range of drinks packages available. Parking is free for an hour then charges apply, but honestly – I would suggest you leave the car at home! Go try my fave cocktail on their menu (Fire In Da Booth) and enjoy the vibes, spending some time in the bar when you finish your round, or sit outside and enjoy the summer evenings.

This post is not sponsored but the round of golf, drinks and food during our visit was complimentary. I have worked with Ghetto Golf on paid instagram content which is clearly disclosed. Some photos included are from that visit and some from the launch party. I really enjoyed visiting during the launch party and wanted to share this as a fun place to visit in Newcastle.
