I don’t often rave about perfumes, so when I dedicate a whole post to one you know it must be good! Now if there’s one perfume you need to pick up this summer that’s not your typical scent; it’s this!
Black Opium by YSL smells as good as it looks and I mean just look at that glittering beauty. You just know it’s going to bring an edge to your dressing table (or perfume shelf in my case) with that bottle. Yes it’s Yves Saint Laurent and the price tag reflects that, but this eau de parfum packs a lot of scent so a little goes a long, long way. For those of you put off by parfum scents, I’m told an eau de toilette version will be heading to counters in time for Christmas so get saving those Boots advantage points.
Trying to describe scents isn’t really my forte, but this glamorous bottle is certainly very feminine and meant to reflect the mysterious side of the brand. With a heart of coffee and jasmine, it does just that and whilst it’s probably not what you expect; it really works! The coffee aroma will hit the senses first, followed by pink pepper, then orange blossom, vanilla and jasmine with undertones of patchouli and cedar. This musky scent is definitely something to wear to impress on an evening as it alludes a sense of mystery, spice and even smells expensive (who knew that was possible?!) If you can’t save it for evenings, just one spray on a morning should give you that caffeine fix for the day too if that’s what you’re looking for!
