Last year (feels weird writing that) I went for my first spa visit where I had a body wrap and a facial as part of my treatment and I guess since then it’s opened my eyes to the range of beauty treatments out there.
Sk:n Clinics can be found all over the country and have over 20 years of experience offering beauty treatments including acne, dermatology, laser hair removal and Microdermabrasion facials. Microdermabrasion sounds a bit intense and tough on the skin, but the small crystals sk:n use pack a punch, removing the top layer of skin cells without causing pain or irritation, to rejuvenate and leave a healthy glow. Your face may look a bit red but that’s only temporary, once the colour fades away you’ll be left with fresh softer skin. From £48, the treatment is competitively priced alongside some of the top spas in the North East. House of Savannah also offer facials for varying prices depending on which therapist you book with. I must say, I’m tempted to get along for a manicure and give myself a little pamper! Everyone deserves a treat sometimes, don’t they?
If visiting a clinic or spa isn’t your bag; The Body Shop do a great microdermabrasion face scrub which is gritty enough to remove the dead skin cells without feeling too harsh on the skin. If your skin doesn’t feel I love Lush face masks too, packed with fresh ingredients and if you take back 5 empty Lush pots, you get one free!
Fancy splurging a little more? Try Origins. Their ‘Drink Up Intensive’ is one of my favourites for winter, just apply before bed and you’ll wake up to smoother skin. Clear Improvement is my go-to clay mask to decongest pores when they’re feeling a bit troublesome and I don’t find it to leave my skin feeling stripped or tight – though I would always follow it with a nourishing moisturiser like Korres Wild Rose 2 Hour Brightening Cream which is a current favourite.
In terms of oils, I love Skinature’s Lavender and Argan Oil Night Therapy* and The Body Shop Serum in Oil. I’d really like to try Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, so if you’ve given it a whirl, let me know your thoughts.
Are you a facial kinda girl or do you prefer a weekly mask at home?
