• Event | #NE1NFW DYO Jewellery

On Thursday night I headed along to the DYO Fabulous Jewellery event held at Nancy’s Bordello in Newcastle. Information had been provided beforehand from the lovely Amy, to tell us about the structure of the event and how we would be making our own jewellery on the night!

Greeted with white wine on arrival, I chatted to a couple bloggers and looked at all the handmade jewellery. DYO’s Owner and creator, Janet spoke to each of the bloggers individually and it was clear how passionate she was about what she does. She gave a presentation about the company, explaining its roots and introduced the unique interface they will be launching in July which looks incredible!

When the interface launches you’ll be able to go to their website and design your own necklace with just a few clicks. You can make it as personalised as you like, down to the size, shape and colour of the beads. A really great way to make a unique thoughtful present for someone special. DYO are hoping to branch out into weddings and be able to give the correct codes for the wedding colours so the jewellery will match perfectly! Something that you really can’t get on the high street, but it’s going to be completely affordable too as you pick your price limit. I can’t wait to see the interface launch and have a proper go at using it!

Janet encouraged us all to pick up the jewellery, have a proper look at it and even wear it during the event. I picked this one above, such a statement piece that would look great against a plain tee and jeans to add a little something to the outfit.

As I mentioned earlier, part of our event was a jewellery making masterclass and I really enjoyed it. I won’t lie, it was quite fiddly but I think for my first attempt at making a necklace, I did pretty well. I hope they do more workshops like this in the future, it was a lot of fun and I know so many people would love to have a go!

My best concentration face! I did successfully make my own necklace and I’m so happy with how it turned out. There were so many different chains, beads and pendants to pick from and y’know how I am with decisions!

Go check out DYO Fabulous Jewellery and keep an eye out in July for the launch so you can make your own jewellery!

This event sure is nice! Necklace is always my most favorite accessory, and having it DYI'd by yourself is just awesome! 🙂

Yeah, it means you get to make something that really suits your taste – or something that can be really personal to someone else as a gift. It's a great idea!

Everything was just amazing, even if it wasn't to my taste of what I'd wear, I could still appreciate all the time that had gone in to making it. 🙂
