I finally got my hands on the ‘Promiscuous set’ from the Guy Bourdin NARS range and it was so worth it!
I first spotted the gift set about a month before Christmas and my local Space NK had sold out and weren’t likely to get more in. There were none available on the NARS site and I searched anywhere I could find and had no luck I left it, hoping someone would find one in time for Christmas and instead I received the ‘Fling’ set from the range, which was a lovely surprise (I’ll stick a post up about it soon).
Promiscuous has five mini lip pencils, one Velvet Gloss and four Velvet Matte. They’re really good sized minis, (if that makes sense) perfect for taking with you on the go. The set is such great value for money at £30 for the five and a gorgeous makeup bag. If you were to buy the five separately it would cost you £87.50!
Described by NARS as a ‘raspberry sorbet’, New Lover has a smooth glossy finish and great pigmentation. A great subtle colour if you don’t want to go too bold with the lips and the shine really brightens up the whole look.
Described by NARS as a ‘passionate scarlet red’, Cruella is a very popular shade in the Velvet Matte formula. It’s the first Velvet Matte Lip Pencil I’ve tried by NARS and I’m very impressed. It’s so pigmented, really long-lasting (as are all the lip pencils in the set) and the matte formula doesn’t tug on the lips, it glides on and is easily buildable.
A gorgeous dusty rose shade that I think would be really flattering for most skin tones and really wearable during the day and with a smokey eye for the night.
A lovely lilac pink that’s a little different to other pink shades I own. It’s slightly more cool toned that the pinks I’m used to, but not too much so to render it unwearable.
Described as a ‘pink mauve’, Sex Machine is a great nude for everyday wear. I have a feeling it’ll be the most worn shade for me!
I’m really happy with the set and I know it’s a limited edition one, so I wasn’t sure whether or not to feature it on Hello Freckles but the shades are all available separately if you can’t get your hands on it. Keep an eye on the NARS website though, in case they get more in…and someone keep me away from the new limited edition NARS palette!
Have you tried the NARS Velvet Matte/Velvet Gloss Lip Pencils? Which is your favourite?
