Last night I went to my first ever bloggers event, the Benefit ‘FakeUp’ launch. I’ll admit I was nervous about going, since it was the first event I’d been invited to, I didn’t know what to expect and I was going alone.
The event took place in Fenwicks, Newcastle in the restaurant end (which I had to rely on the signs in store to find, oops). I arrived early and was welcomed by benebabes Claire and Jo and offered champagne. Other bloggers started to arrived and we all said our hellos, it was great to meet other North East bloggers and everyone I chatted to was lovely. The main talking point that got us going was the really cute cushions which we all secretly (not so secretly) wanted! Credit to Kayleigh for this photo of myself and Lucy.
Claire quizzed us to find out what we already knew about the product and I was lucky enough to win one of the World Famous Neutral Palettes which was amazing! After she handed out one of each of the three variations of WFN, she gave us a demonstration of ‘FakeUp’ which comes in 3 shades: light/medium/deep and will retail at £18.50 on 30th March when it officially launches. The exciting difference between FakeUp and other concealers is the ring with vitamin E and apple seed extract which moisturises the skin and keeps it hydrated for 6 hours! This also means it doesn’t crease, wooo!
After the demonstration we were all coloured matched and canapes and drinks were brought around for us (sneaky photo below). The mini banoffee pies were so good! It was great to have the Benefit ladies on hand to ask any questions and we were all booked in for a free individual makeover which I’m really looking forward to.
We were asked to gather round again for a little quiz to test our knowledge and see if we’d paid attention during the demonstration. This time five lucky bloggers were given the new foundation Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! which I think everyone would have loved to get their hands on.
Claire wouldn’t let any of us leave without our goody bags, which included three FakeUp concealers (one in each shade). After my first impressions, I am already very impressed and I can only imagine it’s going to be a huge hit! Especially when you consider the size of it and how easy it is to apply and slip into your bag to carry around should you want to top up during the day. A full review will follow of both FakeUp and the Neutrals palette and for that reason I’ve not said a lot about the packaging etc. to avoid repeating myself.
I had a great night meeting the Benefit team and I loved how enthusiastic, friendly and approachable they were. I’m can say the same for the team who work in my local Boots store as I popped in to chat to them today (more on that in a future post) and they were so helpful (we also got chatting about FakeUp and blogging, which is nice because I don’t normally chat about it other than online..Surely I’m not the only one?) It was great to meet local bloggers as I didn’t really know of many from the area and hopefully we’ll get to see each other again soon! I can safely say my first blogging event was a success and I’m looking forward to future ones!
Do you like the look of FakeUp?
